Coyote Drums for Vegas Kung Fu Lion Dances
The Hippy Coyote arrived in Las Vegas before Christmas 2011 to live with his Kung Fu brother, Rev. Steve Baugh. Rev. Steve knew that Coyote was having hard times financially and was end the end of a divorce--so he offered Coyote free room and board for the next year.

The Hippy Coyote Performs Dozens of Lion Dances and Kung Fu Dragon
From Christmas through the end of Februrary are over 80 Lion Dances to be performed by the Las Vegas Lohan Kung Fu School. Although Richard Del Connor, Buddha Zhen, The Hippy Coyote was supposed to be a Lion Dance drummer, he ended up performing many Dragon dances from different sections of the dozen-membered snake-like dragon.

Coyote's Dragon Dance
Kung Fu Cowboy is a Chinese Kung Fu Dragon
The Lion Dances are over. Despite all the money they made, Rev. Steve decided they are not going to remodel their home and don't need Coyote for any more Chinese New Year performances. "It's not my house," he explained to Coyote. "She didn't realize how expensive it would be to buy the materials to remodel the bedrooms."

In a similar manner to the 1992 movie to Utah, this move to Nevada also resulted in a loss of all business incomes and family relationships beyond expectations.

Kung Fu Cowboy is a Rhino Stagehand
From Stardom to Stagehand in Las Vegas
Coyote has always looked good in black. Now he has to wear black to work again. Black steel toe boots. Black pants. Black belt. Black Rhino shirt. Tan leather gloves. (Well, the gloves are black palmed from pushing road cases and building stages in the MGM Grand Arena, The Orleans, and many convention centers and casinos.)

Masonic Kung Fu Performed for Nevada Freemason Grand Master
Coyote finally got his chance to perform the "Masonic Kung Fu" for his Nevada masonic brethren. The Grand Master of all the Nevada lodges visits the Daylite 44 lodge each year. Coyote performed his "Masonic Kung Fu" martial arts dance in the large meeting hall used for dining. First, Coyote performed the "Lian Bu / Ling Po" form as he learned it and impressed everyone with his deadly Kung Fu skills. Then he performed the "Masonic Kung Fu Public Version" for the audience of Master Masons and some spouses and persons not allowed to see our secret dugards and hand signs.

Kung Fu Cowboy Back in Montrose, California
Montrose Kung Fu School Hires Coyote for New Shifu Position
"I wanted that location," says Buddha Zhen (our Zen Coyote). "A couple of my senior students wanted to finance a school for me to teach in. It used to be a dance studio. It's really huge. It's two storefront spaces. But then, one day, there was a Kung Fu school sign on the building. What a shock!"

Time With My Kids
My son was taken away from me to live with his new father, Fred Maldonado, back in 2005. Ironically, he moved to Las Vegas and my ex-wife Michelle McCarty chose not to marry him after visiting his new home. Shovelling Dirt and Hanging with the Rhinos
Coyote's brother has a company that installs artificial turf, and putting greens, like at miniature golf courses. This required removing trees, bushes and grass, then creating a shaped landscape of "Road Base," a mixture of gravel and sand. Then a thiner layer of "DG" decomposed granite, then the "carpet," the artifical turf. Interesting business with some beautiful results but, all that work needs to be done by someone.

Funny Song About a Fantastic Life
"High School Graduation Reunion"
FREE SONG: "High School Graduation Reunion"
"High School Graduation Reunion" was written by The Hippy Coyote in Las Vegas. He recorded a really noisy version of the song in his guest house garage. With his 1984 Tobacco Sunburst Fender Stratocaster plugged into his 1978 Marshall Mk II 50-watt amplifer, Coyote sung a rough version of this song so that he wouldn't forget it.

Will San Diego Masons Embrace "Masonic Kung Fu?"
"I went and got a few of my suits out of storage," says 3rd Degree Mason, Richard Del Connor. "When I was in Las Vegas, I had one black suit and one black formal. Different lodges have different dress codes, so hopefully I won't overdress so much." Apparently, due to heat or informality of their gatherings, the Las Vegas Mason lodge only required formal attire during a degree, and only by the officers. So Richard was surprised to realize during his first month of meetings in Nevada freemason lodges, that he was usually the only mason dressed up in a formal with bow tie and white pleaded shirt.

Coyote on Craig's List
Coyote is putting ads on Craigs List for musicians or music opportunities. "Maybe I can get hired by a band as a singer," says Coyote to his Rhino buddies. But that was why Coyote left San Diego. He refused to play cover songs. "I jammed with one of my teenage music friends. He is a very good guitarist now. He said that he has been a "blue collar guitar player" for many years. Then he asked his wife, "Was I happy?" She shook her had sadly from side to side. "I hated it!" he proclaimed to Coyote. "I used to come home miserable. I hated it."
