The Hippy Coyote with Alvarez 12-stringBAND:   THC The Hippy Coyote

American Zen was founded in 1992 when Coyote was stranded in Salt Lake City, Utah. Prior bands included The Rich and Coyote in a Graveyard rock opera. Coyote is also Buddha Zhen who records Tai Chi and Kung Fu music. Coyote has performed as a session player since 1992 for many other bands on flute, percussion, vocals, bass, and guitar. But when he performed solo on acoustic guitar he was usually billed as, The Hippy Coyote or American Zen. Since 2011, Coyote has been performing solo on electric guitar under the artist name, Kung Fu Cowboy.

Coyote's 12-string Alvarez was lost in 2009 and Coyote vowed to never play another acoustic guitar again for the rest of his life. We've got enough master recordings of Coyote on acoustic guitar for several of these THC The Hippy Coyote albums. Shaolin Records is releasing the acoustic solo recordings of The Coyote under the band name THC The Hippy Coyote, not American Zen. As of 2013, Coyote has been billed as Kung Fu Cowboy when performing solo with his Fender Stratocaster and flute.

About THC The Hippy Coyote:
American Zen is led by The Hippy Coyote who fronts the band on flute and acoustic guitar. Coyote is a renaissance man who writes all the music, lyrics, and poetry. The End of the Line album was recorded in Coyote's truck, "Tacoma Studios," during February 2014 and was released on July 4, 2014 by Shaolin Records. In 2012, Coyote sought to launch his solo career in San Diego after being renamed, "THC The Hippy Coyote," by his Las Vegas reggae musician friends. This was going to be Coyote's acoustic solo career name... until his Alvarez was lost in 2009.
