Coyote Gets "The Third Degree"

After being raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason, each freemason is expected to then pass his "3rd Degree Proficiency."

This "3rd Degree," is a very difficult examination. It requires memorization and extensive practice with a "Candidate's Coach."

Coyote shares his Masonic journey as he passes his 3rd Degree Proficiency at the Panamericana Lodge #513 on August 6th.

"I really did a good job of it," proudly proclaims Coyote. "It was practically perfect."

The Woodstock Years of Sid's Place novel

I saw the show, WOODSTOCK: NOW & THEN. It was wonderful to be back there. I was fortunate to be born in 1954, so my adolescent years were 1966 to 1972.

I was molded by the hippie, hippy, yippy, yippie, free love beliefs that existed then.

Push Hands Tournament

The Marshal of my Panamericana Freemason Lodge #513 took 1st place in our July Push Hands Tournament of Buddha Kung Fu. It was a lot of fun.

Since I’m the promoter, I can’t compete. 2nd Place went to Tony Amarkarian whopushed the Kung Fu Panda back a dozen feet a few times. "Powerful pushing," Tony!

Next tournament is the September PUSH HANDS CHAMPIONSHIP at CV Park where David Rush, Tony Amarkarian, and Jessica Isaacs, will defend their Summer Push Hands Tournament winning titles.

Coyote’s FIRST MUSIC VIDEO since the last Coyote Radio TV show in 2005.

“Great Salt Lake” features Coyote PERFORMING SOLO FLUTE at the end of a day of shooting 7 other music videos.

Coyote’d been strolling around the Montrose neighborhood, being shot by Director Scott Karahadian, and Jarrod Weinstein. Coyote played his ukulele and other instruments along to the music of American Zen’s first few albums on Shaolin Records.

Coyote wanted to “really play,” and talked the two cameramen into shooting him perform a LIVE VERSION of “Bouree,” very similar to the version by Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull. At the end of the performance, Coyote was so excited, he wanted to perform another song, one he’d written, called “Great Salt Lake.” Coyote dedicates the song to his son, “...who was born there. Sorry about that.”

His flutework is amazing and mesmerizing, but the animations added by director, Scott Karahadian, add another dimension to the video.

Masonic Kung Fu Performance -- on hold?

In the last podcast of the ZEN BUDDHIST PODCAST of SHAOLIN ZEN, Buddha Zhen stated he would be performing the “Masonic Kung Fu” he discovered, for the public.

We’ll present something, states Buddha Zhen, but it won’t be the performance I am hoping to have approved before our next tournament, the BUDDHA KUNG FU PUSH HANDS CHAMPIONSHIP, in September.

Buddha Zhen hopes, with the approval of the Grand Lecturer, of the Grand Lodge of California Freemasons, to perform a public version of his “Masonic Kung Fu” Form, with an accompanying lecture about the death, burial and raising of the Grand Master Hiram Abif.
