AmZen eNEWS November 2008 0. -- Main Announcement about AMERICAN ZEN featuring The Hippy Coyote -- Each album is a new evolution of Coyote’s poetry. The first album, LEVEL 1 = Peace Of Mind, was a subdued, sincere, heartful reading. Coyote read the poetry as he had already performed it many times at various poetry readings in Utah. The second album, LEVEL 2 = Christ Killer, had a wide variety of poetry reading styles from subdued to very dramatic to musical rapping. We began to record and edit each poem as if they were individual songs requiring their own unique sounds and effects. The third album, LEVEL 3 = I Want You To Love Me, may not have the dynamic variety of the previous album, but for the first time, Coyote recorded bass tracks behind each of the twelve poems. Some poems may only have a single bass track, but others, such as “1,000 Sorrows For A Love,” and “Civilized World,” have three basses harmonizing with each other.
