Thanks to our distributor, CDbaby.com, we have distribution in a lot of places like iTunes now.

Shaolin Records started in 1984, by stocking our vinyl records in record stores with Greenworld Distributors shipping our albums internationally.

Now, in 2005, we have a low-cost way to distribute our cds and music downloads.

Perhaps Shaolin Records can be a successful one-man enterprise.

Utah Phase 1 poetry book

We released this in Utah as UTAH - PHASE 1.

This "Phase 1" became the genesis of American Zen's "Level 1."

This is the book
that tells the story of how and why Coyote created/started the band, AMERICAN ZEN.

This is the book
that started the 8 LEVELS OF AMERICAN ZEN.

UTAH PHASE 1 contains the lyrics from the first two albums, LEVEL 1 = PEACE OF MIND, and LEVEL 2 = CHRIST KILLER. The poetry book also contains poems not included on any American Zen album.

7. - - Books by The Coyote - -

Utah Phase 1 poetry book

This book, Utah Phase 1, contains the lyric sheet photocopies of The Coyote. These are the lyric sheets and poems he carried back and forth through the snow covered slushy streets of Salt Lake City, Utah in 1992 and 1993.

Photocopies weren't as good as they are today. The original lyric sheets were typed on an IBM Selectric II typewriter. An incredible typewriter. The interchangeable typing balls make them versatile.

These pages are from the end of the photocopy days. The grainy look is a flashback to the last century.

Utah Phase 1 is about a religion in the 19th Century. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Mormon religion is the dominant force in politics, religion, education, and business in Utah. Many Mormons were adamantly opposed to allowing a long haired California Buddhist Tai Chi Kung Fu Hippie be a teacher in Utah.

American Zen's first album, LEVEL 1 = PEACE OF MIND, was a reaction and defiance towards the Mormons who were unfriendly towards him. Coyote stands firm to protect himself, his family, and cat.

American Zen's second album, LEVEL 2 = CHRIST KILLER, portrays a battle that Coyote can see from both sides of the fence. Coyote wants to fight no one, so there's no one to fight.
