American Zen was founded in 1992 when Coyote moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. Prior bands included The Rich and Coyote in a Graveyard rock opera. Coyote is also Buddha Zhen who records Tai Chi and Kung Fu music. Shaolin Records is releasing the acoustic solo recordings of The Coyote under the new band name, THC The Hippy Coyote. Since 2011 Coyote's been billed as "Kung Fu Cowboy," not American Zen.

Coyote Freemason 1 |
I made one last effort at Freemasonry in 2014. I was hoping by joining the Royal Arch Masons that I would increase my odds of finding a friend, partner, mentor, or advisor. |

Kung Fu Workout Area on Scorpion Trail |
This wider area of the path was also level. So I'd practice my 12 Tantui of my "Bruce Lee Bootcamp" and the Yang Style Tai Chi Short Form of Shaolin Chi Mantis. I'd do my pushups and situps here also. Every day I travelled this trail to its end, then walked back to my dad's house where I was sleeping on his living room floor. |

San Diego Scorpion Trail in Mission Gorge |
After the scorpion sting at the Brad Paisley concert, I went back to work too soon and tore up my legs and arms. Walking up 6 stairs was incredibly painful and difficult. This path in Mission Gorge was a major part of my rehabilitation. |

Path to Recovery on Scorpion Trail |
On my last day in San Diego, I walked this path to say, "thank you." A beautiful huge orange Coyote greeted me on the path and seemed to have no fear as it bid me farewell. |

Kung Fu Cowboy Tribal Cafe Concert |
This was my test concert before recording my new album. I was working out some of the lyrics and my comments, which I had too many of... I wanted this to be a music video to post on YouTube but the director didn't like what he shot and said he wouldn't make any music videos from the concert. Bummer. I also wanted to videotape the recording of the vocals on the END OF THE LINE album as they were being recorded at Scott's house. Somehow, me, a UCLA film school graduate, movie industry filmmaker, professional photographer... don't have any videotapes of me. |
