Mission Statement of Tai Chi Youth The purpose of Tai Chi Youth is to develop, foster, and promote Yang Style Taijiquan, Songshan Shaolin Gongfu, Zen philosophy, and various Chinese artistic disciplines such as calligraphy, watercolor painting, and music. Toward this end, Tai Chi Youth will undertake the following activities: Offer programs in art, music, dance, Kung Fu (Gongfu), Tai Chi (Taijiquan), and theater to benefit the citizens of the United States through correspondence programs, seminars, and additional schools as Instructors are certified by Master Zhen Shen-Lang and successive Patriarchs. Provide programs and instructors to various public and private schools of youths ages 8 to 18 to improve their health and reduce obesity. Seek and apply for state, federal, corporate, and private funds available in support of arts and youth programs. Create and develop a large facility for performances and teaching Taiji and Gongfu with offices and storefront sales areas in Southern California. Create and develop a BROADCAST QUALITY multimedia production/postproduction facility for developing and producing educational and entertainment products for sale to students and the public. This same multimedia studio could also be a multimedia school with vocational value for students who are trained to use these computers, and software programs. Establish and maintain a successful, and efficient internet mail order and ecommerce business for selling our various products. The website, www.taichiYOUTH.org, was built and developed by The Coyote of shaolinDIGITAL.com in 2000 for Tai Chi Youth. Develop an awareness of how Tai Chi lessens violent tendencies as it improves self-esteem and physical health in our students. Efforts must be consistent to promote to the local schools and government that Tai Chi Youth inspires traditional ethics, peace of mind, mental health, well-being, self-motivation, and morality that makes each student of Tai Chi Youth a more valuable member of the community. Promote and encourage the cultural heritage of Shaolin Kung Fu as a martial art founded by Bodhidharma in the 6th Century A.D. to improve the spiritual abilities of the Buddhist monks at the temple on Mt. Songshan. Create and promote the SCM & TCY Annual Chinese Gongfu & Taijiquan Tournament at a location specified the TCY Patriarch that will not include any sparring or boxing except for Pushing Hands, Crane Warsª, and choreographed routine competitions. NonChinese martial arts or styles will be disqualified in all divisions. Create and promote the TCY Push Hands Championship held each year in September at a location(s) specified by the Patriarch of TCY. This tournament will be supported by Shaolin Chi Mantis and incorporate the 'seeded' winners from the SCM Summer Push Hands Tournament. Maintain at each TCY schoool a Tai Chi Youth Performance Team for various public events, cultural festivals, and to promote Tai Chi Youth to local schools and youth facilities. Tai Chi Youth, Inc. will support, promote, and pay homage to Shaolin Chi Mantis and its Founder, Master Zhen Shen-Lang, as much as possible, realizing that the source and creativity of the various Tai Chi Youth programs have been derived from Shaolin Chi Mantis and that Tai Chi Youth will be dependent on the resources of Shaolin Chi Mantis for instructors, while still maintaining as much legal and financial separation as possible so as not to violate any tax laws or other legal requirements of Tai Chi Youth as a nonprofit organization. Whereas, Tai Chi Youth programs will be requested and desired in many locations, there will be a maximum of twelve schools allowed to exist per the authorization of the TCY Patriarch. From each of these twelve TCY schools, a maximum of eight satellite programs can be offered at locations stemming from these twelve TCY schools per the approval of the TCY Patriarch. Resolved, that all these schools will be created and maintained to mutually benefit each other, be supervised by the TCY Board Of Trustees, and authorized by the TCY Patriarch. Each school may have different arts programs due to available resources while always maintaining the standards and curriculums of Tai Chi Youth, Inc. The Tai Chi Youth Curriculum Guide #1, written by our Founder, Master Zhen Shen-Lang, will always be the fundamental program offered at each Tai Chi Youth school.
