BAND: American ZenAmerican Zen was founded in 1992 when Coyote moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. Prior bands included The Rich and Coyote in a Graveyard rock opera. Coyote is also Buddha Zhen who records Tai Chi and Kung Fu music. Shaolin Records is releasing the acoustic solo recordings of The Coyote under the new band name, THC The Hippy Coyote, although his last gig at the Tribal Cafe, Los Angeles, in 2013 was billed as "Kung Fu Cowboy," not American Zen.

"All Screwed Up" has become the first song used by Coyote to teach guitar lessons to any of his students since 2005. Within this song Coyote uses almost all guitar techniques from "hammer-ons" and "pull-offs" to various strumming methods. The song chords of, A, D, G, and E are a typical country music structure, but this is a rock'n'roll song of power chords.
Any of Coyote's guitar students who master this song have also had to master all the drills and exercises Coyote prescribes on a weekly basis.

Written from a cold winter basement, Coyote tells a tale from LEVEL 1 = Peace Of Mind, on his first level of Buddhist enlightenment on his journey to Nirvana, song by song, and poem by poem. Starting a family of his own, he was critical of other families.This song is from the LEVEL 1 = PEACE OF MIND album by American Zen. The LEVEL 1 songs are about survival and Coyote's first year in Mormon Utah, in 1992.
Recorded on a 4-track Tascam 424, purchased for Coyote by one of his Tai Chi students.
Starting October 2010, Coyote will be teaching guitar lessons, by VIDEO CHAT, online to anywhere in the world, from his Montrose apartment. Open time slots can be booked at 858-717-7074. This song, "All Screwed Up," is the first song you'll learn.

About American Zen:
American Zen is led by The Hippy Coyote who fronts the band on Yamaha flute and Fender 1984 Floyd Rose Stratocaster electric guitar with a tobacco finish. From 1992 until 2009, Coyote fronted the American Zen band playing an Alvarez 12-string acoustic guitar and his1975 nickel Selmer-Bundy flute. Coyote is a renaissance man who writes all the music, lyrics, and poetry. The End of the Line album was recorded in Coyote's truck, "Tacoma Studios," during February 2014 and was released on July 4, 2014 by Shaolin Records.
