The Hippy Coyote was born Richard Del Connor in San Diego, California. He began fronting rock bands as singer-guitarist in 1967. Coyote fronted bands on bass, and flute before creating American Zen band in 1992 in which he pretends to be all four band members, performing all the instruments and vocals. Kung Fu Cowboy Rock & Roll Movie 1 has been written about Coyote's Shaolin Kung Fu lifestyle.

RECORD RELEASE ANNOUNCEMENT:
End Of The Line follows the 2012 release of Coyote Radio Tujunga by THC The Hippy Coyote and the last released album by American Zen, LEVEL 4 = Kung Fu Cowboy PART 1: King Solomon's Temple in 2010. Both of these previous albums, also written by Coyote, are based upon the life events of T.H.Coyote, known mostly as "Kung Fu Cowboy" since 2012. End Of The Line is a musical autobiography of Coyote since he became "nomadic" in 2011.
Starting with the song, "Use Me," Coyote tells how he became homeless and stranded in Las Vegas. The next song, "High School Reunion," was written as Coyote reentered the town of his birth for his 40-Year High School Reunion.
Coyote continues to perform all the instruments under the pseudonyms of his music alter-egoes; Steve Hixon on drums, Tom Calder on bass, and Rory G on electric guitar.
The songs were written inside his truck, and in February and March of 2014, Coyote recorded all 11 songs in his truck. The drums had to be recorded in his daughter's living room while his truck was getting a new head gasket. The final guitar playing through his vintage 1978 Marshall amp was recorded with the flutes in an empty apartment in Van Nuys where Coyote could turn his amp up to "11." The bass, vocals and rhythm guitar tracks were recorded in Coyote's Toyota Tacoma using his sleeping bag for insulation...
Coyote originally intended this to be a solo record of his recent solo performances on electric guitar and flute. "It just made sense to keep going," explains Coyte. "Opportunities just kept opening up and one of my Kung Fu students bought me the Zoom 4-track recorder for Christmas. The album just kept growing--with a life of its own."
End Of The Line is the 5th album release of American Zen. WIth the return to 4-track recording, this album has a simlar rock honesty as the LEVEL 1 = Peace of Mind album by American Zen.
"This album represents my final departure from folk rock," says Coyote. "Since 1994 I've been striving to revitalize or bring back folk rock music. It didn't work. As you can see the world has chosen bombs, bullets, rap cussing and digital music from kids who can't play a single instrument. Folk rock is dead, and I couldn't resurrect it."
Coyote was the host DJ of the Folk Rock Podcast of Shaolin Records for several years. "I'm a rocker now," states our hippie dog. "I will never play an acoustic guitar again."
That's okay. Coyote shreds on guitar. End Of The Line will be the album used by future generations of guitar players to learn their rock riffs and form their own 4-piece rock bands all over the world.
End Of The Line album, released June 2014, will also be promoted and marketed as Coyote releases and promotes several other projects. Supersoul 13 is the spiritual journal written by Coyote in 2013 while completeing the End of the Line album. This book provides details of the album being written, and any fan of the album will want this book. Supersoul 13 is being released exclusively through amazon.com.
Coyote is a Tai Chi and Shaolin Kung Fu master teaching under the name, Buddha Zhen or Buddha Z . As founder of several Kung Fu schools, including the Tai Chi Youth nonprofit education organization, Coyote has become famous as the "Kung Fu Cowboy." Already featured in Kung Fu Masters Magazine, Coyote will star in the movie written about him, Kung Fu Cowboy Rock & Roll Movie 1 , currently in production as this album is released.
The song, "Kung Fu Cowboy 2," was written with phrases and lyrics that only a Kung Fu practitioner would know: "Rooted to the Earth in a horse stance," "Don't fight--we play around," "Trees are my punching bags," and "Qigong and a bong--for energy!" portraying the modern Kung Fu hero as a person who enjoys life as much as possible--in a healthy way.
So, during his three years of being homeless, Coyote has been stung by a scorpion in the neck, released 19 books in Kindle format, written and recorded the End of the Line album, written and published Supersoul 13 book, written the screenplay for Kung Fu Cowboy Rock & Roll Movie,1, and worked as a stageheand wihile teaching Tai Chi and Shaolin Kung Fu private lessons. Coyote has released more products while sleeping in his truck for the past 3 years than Coyote has released in the previous 30 years of sleeping in nice warm houses.
"Hey! That doesn't mean that I'm better off homeless! I'm just not having to cook, clean, change diapers and help with homework every day. I've been on my own since Christmas 2011. It's great having more time to write, record, and play music, BUT I NEED MY STUDIO BACK! I need a home! I need a kitchen..."
The bed of Coyote's truck is 6' long. Since Coyote is 6'1" in height, sleeping has been restricted these past 3 years. Hopefully he hasn't grown shorter...
So the world's new rock star is The Hippy Coyote, the Kung Fu Cowboy of American Zen, "America's first Buddhist rock band™."
This is probably the first time in history that a 60-year old homeless hippie emerged onto the radio and record charts to become a pop star.
Coyote recorded his first album in 1974. So this "overnight success" is the result of 40 years dedicated to a dream... that even his parents, brothers, and relatives discouraged. This album End of the Line, will prove to every listener that The Hippy Coyote is a wizard--a true star. (It also proves that relatives can lead you astray.)

End of the Line is the musical autobiography of The Hippy Coyote of American Zen. Leaving his family behind on the day before Christmas in 2011, Coyote packed up his life to start a Buddha Kung Fu Kung Fu school in Las Vegas, Nevada. With the assurances of a Kung Fu brother, he expected room and board for performing up to 85 Chinese Kung Fu Lion Dances and teaching at a Las Vegas Shaolin Kung Fu school.
Unfortunately, the day after the Chinese New Year of 2012, Coyote was told to hit the road. Without friends, relatives, students, or a job, Coyote struggled for several months living in the backyard of a Freemason. The song, "Use Me," was written in that Las Vegas garage.
Coyote worked for a temp service and as a stagehand until he'd saved enough money to move back to California. Unfortunately, he was no longer part of the YMCA teaching budget and being homeless he couldn't enroll enough Kung Fu and Tai Chi students to pay rent...
So Coyote moved back to San Diego in 2012, where he was raised and had lots of relatives. The relatives refused to help him launch his Tai Chi Youth nonprofit education organization. Working as a "day laborer" digging dirt and pushing wheel barrows, Coyote realized why he'd left San Diego in 1978 and had distanced himself ever since then from his Republican relatives.
Coyote wrote the song, "High School Graduation Reunion," for what would have been his 40-Year High School Reunion if he hadn't been exiled from the USA in 1970 to live in St. John's Newfoundland. Now known as Buddha Zhen to his Kung Fu and Tai Chi students, Coyote hoped that he could recruit the kids and grandkids of his San Diego friends and classmates.
In October 2012, after Coyote realized that his childhood friends were also of no use in starting his Buddha Kung Fu and Shaolin Chi Mantis Traditional Buddhist Gongfu programs, he received a call from Scott Karahadian to make a movie, Kung Fu Cowboy, to star Coyote as a homeless vigilante. Coyote optioned his life, and Scott started writing the screenplay.
Two weeks later Coyote was stung in the neck by a small tan scorpion near the Mexican border while working as a stagehand for a Brad Paisley concert. Injured and unable to walk for several months, Coyote jumped in to write about ghosts emerging from his body to do his Kung Fu fighting for him. A couple weeks after the screenplay, Kung Fu Cowboy Rock & Roll Movie 1, was completed in late February 2013, Coyote wrote the movie's theme song, "Scorpion Resurrection."
On Mother's Day 2013, Coyote wrote "Secret Asian Girl," for Kung Fu Cowboy Rock & Roll Movie 2 as he worked on that screenplay in his spare time. With Coyote's new independence after being a Mr. Mom since 1991, the song "Rock Me Hard," emerged as Coyote was pursued by lovely young ladies that lusty summer in North Hollywood.
On Father's Day 2013 Coyote wrote and recorded a demo of "Kung Fu Cowboy 2." Coyote was redefining his new identity as he slept in his car and struggled to produce his Kung Fu Cowboy movie.
"Take Me Apart" was written for the Kung Fu Cowboy Rock & Roll Movie 2 with Coyote expecting to perform it live in the movie, signing and playing a Chinese pipa guitar.
"End of the Line" song was inspired by a couple people in Coyote's world. This almost hostile song also represents Coyote's frustration with people in his life who were self-destructive, and their own worst enemy.
After analyzing the failures of his own love lives and the marriages of countless people since his childhood, Coyote wrote "Honor and Obey, Cherish and Protect." Coyote imagined this song being sung by a bride and groom as their wedding vow. Perhaps someday Coyote will perform this song at his own wedding.
One of the Kung Fu Cowboy Rock & Roll Movie sequels will feature Coyote on a chopper. As Coyote worked on the four screenplays, this song emerges as the opening number of Kung Fu Cowboy Rock & Roll Movie 4. "Black Hills Ride" is an instrumental song featuring Coyote on flute. During the summer of 2013, Coyote carried his flute with him, jamming with bands and performing for the North Hollywood neighbors of his two children where his Toyota Tacoma truck was dry docked with a blown up radiator.
When Coyote recorded (on his phone) the flute instrumental song "Starting Over Again," he realized that his album was completed. For the next couple months Coyote performed this show in the back of his truck . The Kung Fu Cowboy show debuted Novemenber 22, 2013 at the Tribal Cafe in Los Angeles. Although Coyote worked hard to audition drummers to join him, it became apparent that this was destined to be a solo album featuring Coyote on his electric guitar and flute.
As the End of the Line album was being completed... Coyote was also writing the Supersoul 13 book inspired by the Bhagavad Gita scripture. These songs depict and portray the spiritual journey of our homeless and solitary renaissance man struggling to restart his life and rediscover, Peace of Mind. In the end, End of the Line represents a dedicated father becoming a dedicated artist dedicated to improving the world by making his Kung Fu Cowboy Rock & Roll Movie 1.
End of the Line is the beginning of Coyote's new artistic life.
Amazingly, this album was recorded mostly in Coyote's truck with his sleeping bag insulating the windows...
